        In February 2016 the Economic Society of Australia (Victoria branch) elected Philip as their Honorary Treasurer. Philip is a past President.
            Economic Papers (June, 2013) published his article with colleagues advocating Transport Satellite Accounts for the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) System of National Accounts

                • Other papers were published in the Economic Record , Transport Reviews and in the Reserve Bank of Australia Research Discussion Paper series. Conference papers were given to ANZAAS, the Australian conference of economists (1975, 2008, 2012 and 2016), and the Australasian Transport Research Forum (ATRF).  Philip spoke on Journey to Work as part of the launch of the 2011 ABS Census of Population and Housing.
                • Philip also co-authored a book, on optimal water and sewage pricing, with the eminent economist Professor Peter B Dixon AO.

                The Norman Bros. shop at 500 Collins St Melbourne continues the stationery business founded in 1898 at 60 Elizabeth St by the sons of William Norman, born in 1841 in Ely Cambridgeshire, UK. Philip was a director from 1976 to 1989.
